Have also posted this on the WordPress support forum: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/doesnt-work-in-internet-explorer-1?replies=1#post-4698452

I’m using the SwipeBox effect. It works perfectly in Chrome and Firefox, and on my phone.

In IE9, the first picture loads when you click on it, but then when you scroll the images don’t display. Just a flat black lightbox. If you hover you can see the alt-text, so it’s as if the image is there but just not showing.

Any suggestions? If this plugin doesn’t work I’m going to have to find another one, which is a huge shame as I love it.

If it helps with diagnoses, prettyPhoto works fine in IE. However, I prefer SwipeBox due to its better mobile compatibility.

That’s really weird. Looks like everything should be ok.

We’ll come back to it as for now, we have no idea why it happens.

Hi…just bumping up this thread as I’m having the same issue. Details are as follows:
    1. I have version 1.3.1 of the plugin installed.
    2. WordPress version 3.7.1.
    3. Using Swipebox for the lightbox effect.
    4. Chrome, Firefox and IE10 all work nicely.
    5. IE8 when opening an image gallery only shows a black screen. IE9 shows the first image and nothing else when trying to scroll.
    6. I’m testing on a PC, not a phone.
    7. All other lightbox effects work correctly.

I was hoping the Swipebox effect would fail nicely on IE8 or IE9 if not supported. I can give you a private login to my admin panel if you’d like.

    Thanks,
    bill

Hi, I had the same issue but resolved it with changing $( '#swipebox-next' ).bind( action, function( event ) { by $(document).on("click",'#swipebox-next', function(event){.

As jquery mentionned “As of jQuery 1.7, the .on() method is the preferred method for attaching event handlers to a document”, https://api.jquery.com/bind/
