    I would like to use the fancybox script but my client wants to image to open with a mouse hover – is this possible, is it done with custom events, and if so, how? also, can captions be seen with the fancybox script, and how is this done?

    Custom events will not help you here I think – this is basically for handling Ajax loaded images. You’d have to code that in jQuery.
