    Hi,

I’m looking at using the IFTTT Dropbox to WordPress recipe to automate creating photo posts. Unfortunately a watermark is not applied to images posted in this way.

I have tested with a normal upload, and the watermark is applied nicely and looks great.

I suspect that it is to do with this notice in the plugin settings:

Notice: This functionality works only if uploaded images are processed using WordPress native upload methods.

Is there a way to have the watermarks automatically applied using this method?

    Yes, excatly.

The image has to be processed by WordPress – the watermark is being applied while an image you upload becomes an attachment. So if the image displayed in you blog comes from different source that Media Library, there’s no way to hook into the external application it and thus apply watermark.

I’m not saying this can’t be done at all – maybe there is a way to do it using Dropbox API for example, but that just my assumption.
