I just purchased / installed FancyBox Pro with the hope that it would properly show captions in the lightbox for my Woocommerce product images (also need it on the blog side, but I haven’t gotten that far yet). None of the included free options for Responsive Lightbox and Gallery would. The only one that I could get to display anything was the FancyBox lightbox, and it would just show a placeholder and not the actual caption text.
With FancyBox Pro, where the captions should be is completely empty. Looking at the code in Chrome’s dev tools, both of the divs for title (rl-image-title) and caption (rl-image-caption) are empty, so it’s not that the text is hidden – it’s not being included.
My images all have titles and captions assigned, and I can successfully use them via other means (I show the text below the main product image via a little PHP for instance). I’m on WordPress version 5.9.3, WooCommerce version 6.5.1, Responsive Lightbox 2.3.5 and FancyBox Pro 1.3.1.
I’m hoping you can provide a fix for this, as it’s the entire reason I purchased this plugin…

Caption, title, alt text doesn’t work on individual images opened by the lightbox.
How to solve?31 May 2022 at 17:05 #50589DanielParticipantBumping this as it’s been a week now and I haven’t received any response…
Additionally, I’ve come across another issue – if you look at the console in the Google Developer tools, this plugin is generating multiple PHP errors about multiple things being already defined (element, comment, text, endtag, root, etc.).

17 June 2022 at 19:18 #50819thedigitalmuseParticipantHi, responding to this thread as we’re having similar issues. Is there any way to download an older version of the plugin so we can restore it’s functionality?
ORIGINAL REPLY in related thread: “Hi we’re having an issue with CAPTIONS disappearing after recent updates. Here is a sample page on our site using the FANCYBOX Lightbox: (https://sivarulrasa.com/exhibitions/jane-irwin) –if you click on the cluster of images you’ll see lightbox appear, but no captions. Any idea on how to fix this? Thanks!”
20 June 2022 at 21:04 #50878DanielParticipantOK, so I haven’t heard from anyone on this issue, but I saw that an upgrade had come up. I was hopeful, so I upgraded to Responsive Lightbox 2.4.0 and FancyBox Pro 1.3.2. It didn’t fix my problem, and in fact caused some new problems…
Regarding the main problem: I no longer see the white horizontal bar under the image – not sure if that’s good or bad. I still have the caption on the gallery images, etc. but still nothing under the woocommerce product images. And when looking at the code generated, I don’t even see the divs for title (rl-image-title) and caption (rl-image-caption) any longer…
And a new issue caused by the update: The update has seemed to affect the priority of items. Some things that were “behind” the lightbox, are now “in front” of it…

Thanks,

6 July 2022 at 00:57 #51011thedigitalmuseParticipantHey we’re still having an issue with this after updating to 2.4.1 (see original post from June 17th in this same thread).
––We wanted to make sure that the issue wasn’t on our end (maybe a theme/cross-conflict with another plugin) so we went back to the last stable version of the plugin where the captions still worked [V2.3.5] and once we installed it the captions appeared again [see: https://snipboard.io/CWJT3l.jpg%5D.
Would *really* appreciate someone from the Support team replying to let us know this is a known issue and that a fix is on the way.
15 August 2022 at 17:59 #51345thedigitalmuseParticipantHi team, still waiting on a fix to the Fancybox CAPTIONS NOT APPEARING in lightbox view in newest plugin releases [2.4.1]. Version 2.3.5 is working but we’re not in love with our plugin being out of date. Is a fix on the way?
26 August 2022 at 19:08 #51443BartoszKeymasterHi,
Great you have RLG updated, but is Fancybox Pro updated as well? There were couple of updates recently with some major changes.
28 November 2022 at 16:30 #52097thedigitalmuseParticipantHi we’re having an issue with CAPTIONS disappearing after recent updates. Here is a sample page on our site using the FANCYBOX Lightbox: (https://sivarulrasa.com/exhibitions/jane-irwin) –if you click on the cluster of images you’ll see lightbox appear with CAPTION below it… this only works if we keep version 2.3.5 –every update since breaks the captions, and it’s a core part of our functionality.
Can someone from the team please add this fix or suggest how we can fix it? Thanks
(Updated to 2.4.2 today to see if it was fixed, it was not). You can contact me directly at: melanie@thedigitalmuse.ca, thanks!19 December 2022 at 18:41 #52204thedigitalmuseParticipantHey captions still not working with new updates. We’re keeping version 2.3.5 on our site to keep it stable (captions appearing, as per earlier post -disappear once we update). Would LOVE to hear back from the dev team about this :)

22 September 2023 at 17:20 #54335thedigitalmuseParticipantHi, following up on this thread as we’re still *so optimistic* that we will find a solution. So far version 2.3.5 allows us to see our captions, but for some reason when we update any higher our captions disappear as per this video example:
(https://www.loom.com/share/8be3782222b84239b6ba51cb6484de8b)Any suggestions on what we can do to fix this? (Are we missing a setting somewhere, or is there a paid extension we can update to count on this feature working again?) Thanks so much!
