    The linked changes in my calendar are not super-obvious. Is there a way I could change the color of the linked font and bold it?

    Of course. It’s just a basic CSS modification in your theme stylesheet. Here are some information about the theme structure http://codex.wordpress.org/Theme_Development FInd the CSS file and modify that according to your needs.
