    dfactory,

First of all, thanks for this nice plugin.

After installing this plugin recently, and wordpress 3.8 shortly after, captions of images in galleries disappeared. Today I spent most of the day trying to figure out what went wrong.

Many suggestions I found, among which this one, which I tried:
    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/caption-text-instead-of-image-name-in-swipebox

It didn’t give me the result I was hoping for. Adding image captions only caused my gallery-images (galleries) to have captions on my pages or posts – which doesn’t always look so great. I also noticed this issue has been mentioned before in quite a few topics on this forum.

As a coding dummy I found an alternative solution, which was downgrading once again to WP 3.6, where I came from. I’m not sure whether this issue should be considered to be caused by WP or Resposive Lightbox, I’m only hoping a solution is found so they keep playing nicely together.

Anyways, thanks for this pretty plugin. I’m hoping this issue will be solved somewhere in the future, or a better solution for dummies will be offered :).

Nice post @bas bva :) We’ll try to do something with (provide an option) it in the future update.

As a result of this issue I had a another look at attributes described in the imaga editor, such as the ‘caption’, ‘alt text’ and ‘description’ options.

I notices another couple of things:
    – captions also show up when images posted in galleries are placed separately as image in a post
    – if I’m not mistaken the ‘description’ option doesn’t do anything else that showing a ‘caption’ on the images attachement page. Isn’t this correct?

I’m just wondering, would it not be possible to use the ‘description’ option for a description of the image in the lightbox? In that case you’d already have the option to show ‘captions’ both within a post and / or the lightbox, at the same time or separately, and without changing any of the other behaviour of your WP-site. (I hope this helps, rather then make things more complicated.)

At least thanks again, for looking into this.

[off topic] I’d just like to share this.

With RL & another plugin “Hide This” the following effect can be created. The full gallery could be accesible via a single image (or link, or button):

This plugin is great fun. Thnx.

I don’t know what this plugin does but if it hides gallery images, than yes – it will work, as all the gallery images are available in the DOM.

I’d say WordPress is a great fun :)

After inserting an image into your post, you add [hide] and [/hide] to hide the thumbnail.

    [hide]image[/hide]

(don’t forget to activate the plugin)

    Enjoy.
