There is number of ways to do so. One is using widgets (and additional sidebar). You could use page templates for that (http://wpmu.org/easy-guide-to-displaying-custom-post-types-in-your-wordpress-theme/) or a more advanced solution like that from Justin Tadlock (http://justintadlock.com/archives/2010/02/02/showing-custom-post-types-on-your-home-blog-page)
